GSA Governmentwide Category Management (GWCM) Program Management Office

The GSA Government-wide Category Management (GWCM) Project Management Office (PMO) provides resources and tools to implement the initiative, including guidance, training, and government-wide data analytics. The goals of the GWCM PMO include delivering more savings and efficiencies for federal agencies and eliminating unnecessary contract redundancies. These initiatives required assistance in building a government-wide program that engaged users across every agency to help them better understand and improve government spending.

Echo Origin supported operational management, facilitation, strategic planning, and project management support between the technical team, the GWCM PMO Director, and the Category Management Program Managers to translate requirements and set expectations. Our team was actively involved in facilitating the inclusion of Category PMs by OMB GWCM PMO staff, helping contract staff clarify and align around roles, responsibilities, expectations, and requirements. Through the creation of valuable Tableau visualizations of the Federal Procurement Database System, in combination with other data sets, Echo Origin was able to provide valuable insights into government spending and identify ways it can more effectively disperse those funds in the future. Utilizing Agile methodology in facilitation and management strategies, we were able to align the Federal PMO team around a shared strategy that engages OMB in a more structured, collaborative partnership.
